If you choose to go to bed before everyone else and some light peeks in underneath the door, consider using a draft snake to help block out that light. Draft snakes are popular for keeping outdoor air from coming inside the home, but they can be particularly beneficial at blocking light as well.
Light exposure will limit the amount of melatonin, which is a sleep hormone that the body releases, taking you longer to doze off.
